With the Houston Rockets moving on from both their head coach and GM, things began to escalate about a potential rebuild being eminent in Houston and as a result, created a lot of uncertainty about the future of this organization. James Harden requested a trade and Russell Westbrook was traded.
Robert Covington was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers to acquire some draft assets. Shortly after, the Rockets traded Westbrook to the Washington Wizards in exchange for a future first-round pick and former All-Star point guard John Wall.
The 30-year-old point guard has not played in an NBA game since December 26, 2018 and has suffered some major injuries over the years. He not only comes back ready to play with a chip on his shoulder, but will have one of the most dangerous scoring options in the league in Harden to rely on if he stays.
This is a major “if” for the Rockets because Harden has made it very clear that he no longer has a desire to play in Houston, regardless of who they bring in via trade or sign. This all came after the Rockets signed DeMarcus Cousins and traded for Wall.
It is likely that Harden will be traded by the Rockets at some point this season and he will be suiting up for a new team in attempts to win his first championship. We simply don’t know where the next chapter of his career will be played.
Here are three star players James Harden should want to play with in attempts to make a run to the NBA Finals.
