The Boston Celtics have started the 2020-21 NBA season 3-2 and without Kemba Walker on the court, have struggled at times to find production outside of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Walker has missed the start of the season as he recovers from an offseason knee procedure and as it stands right now, he is on track to be back on the court at some point in February

With Kemba being out for the first two months of the season and the Celtics struggling to find production around him, he could end up being a hot name on the trade market as plenty of teams could want to add the 4x All-Star in exchange for valuable role players and depth for Boston.

Boston has a fantastic core of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart, but outside of these guys, there is a major lack of talent on this roster. Over the years, they have consistently had one of the worst benches in terms of offensive production in the league and this year is no different.

With Kemba out to begin the season, Jeff Teague has stepped in and played a major role so far, but if this team is going to be a championship contender this season and for many seasons to come, they have to make a big move to bolster their bench and overall roster strength. Tatum and Brown cannot carry this roster on their own, which is why they are rumored to make a big move and trade at some point during this season.

If the Celtics continue to find production from other guys on this roster and if their bench continues to struggle, GM Danny Aigne and this Celtics front office could very well look to trade away Kemba to better the overall talent on this team. It is hard to win a championship with just two or three guys leading the charge, just ask the Clippers from last year.

Bench depth and bench scoring is vital in today’s NBA and for any team with title aspirations. Until the Celtics address this issue, they do not have a legit chance at making the NBA Finals and are nothing more than playoff pretenders, which is why trading Kemba is not that crazy of an idea.

If the Celtics do decide it is in their best interest to trade away Kemba Walker, here are 3 big trades they could potentially put together in efforts to solidify a championship caliber roster.
