Why This Trade Would Benefit The Detroit Pistons
Right now, Derrick Rose does not fit in with the future plan for the Detroit Pistons. If they are able to get something for him in a trade, it will happen sooner than later. The Pistons were active in the offseason which made their intentions clear of moving in a different direction.
Detroit used the seventh-overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft on Killian Hayes. He is viewed as their point guard of the future. During the season-opener, Rose played 27 minutes off the bench and scored 15 points and that arrangement has continued. Both Hayes and Delon Wright got the starting nod in the backcourt.
Dwane Casey is a coach who knows how to build a winning team and that is what he is attempting to do in Detroit. Unfortunately, Rose does not fit into that plan.
This is a chance for Detroit to use their veterans as trade pieces. They would also be able to get a nice return from Blake Griffin. It will be interesting to see how the Pistons play this situation moving forward.
