Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: Ben Simmons, Mike Scott
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: D’Angelo Russell, Jarrett Culver, Josh Okogie, 2022 1st Round Pick (Top 5 Prot.), 2024 1st Round Pick (Top 5 Prot.)
It has always been a topic of conversation — would you rather have Ben Simmons or Joel Embiid long term? This is a decision that the Philadelphia 76ers have not wanted to make so they could wait for a team to call and make it for them.
In this particular case, the Minnesota Timberwolves would be asking for Simmons to pair with Karl-Anthony Towns. In return, the Timberwolves could send D’Angelo Russell to Philadelphia to add to their backcourt depth.
Jarrett Culver and Josh Okogie are intriguing prospects to throw on the bench if you are the Sixers. The 76ers would also add some first-round NBA Draft capital. Even though the picks are protected in the top-five, they would be valuable moving forward for a team that already has a franchise player in Joel Embiid.
Let’s take a closer look and see how this deal would benefit both sides during the 2020-21 NBA season.
