This Knicks-Pelicans trade sends intriguing point guard option to New York

The New York Knicks have turned into the worst franchise in the NBA, and maybe all of sports, over the last decade. This has been because of their inept owner making horrible decisions regarding the franchise. On the court, the Knicks have lacked a point guard who can run the offense.

New York is hoping they found a steady head coach in Tom Thibodeau. They finally decided to hire a coach with experience and a history of success instead of taking a chance on options that have no chance of changing the culture. Thibodeau has players like RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson to work with long term.

New York is also hoping that Obi Toppin turns out to be worth the No. 8 overall pick that the team used on him in this year’s draft. In today’s NBA, none of this matters without a point guard. This is something that the Knicks have not had for quite some time. They decided not to make a deal for one in the offseason but that does not mean that an opportunity will not present itself.

The New Orleans Pelicans are a team that is looking to get younger for the future. Brandon Ingram was signed to a long-term extension while Zion Williamson is looking to continue to grow as a player while staying healthy.

The Pelicans feel good about their young core and this led to a trade sending Jrue Holiday to Milwaukee. In return, Eric Bledsoe was one of the pieces sent to New Orleans. He is another veteran point guard who the team could look to move if the return is right.

New York will have some assets to send New Orleans if the two come in contact. Here is a potential deal that could happen between the two sides.
