The Dallas Mavericks were probably the most impressive team in the Western Conference last season as a result of how good Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis were together. Even with Luka injured and Porzingis out, the Mavs still almost took down the Los Angeles Clippers in the playoffs and they are a force to be reckoned with this NBA season.
Roster wise, the Mavericks are in a good position to be one of the better teams in the Western Conference, but are still missing a playmaker on the wing. They went out this offseason and acquired Josh Richardson to help the team defensively, but he is not a reliable third scoring option next to Luka and Porzingis.
This season, Kristaps Porzingis is not expected to be ready to play until sometime in January and as a result, Luka Doncic is on his own against the rest of the Western Conference. With how good the West is, the Mavericks really need to figure out what their next move is because every loss counts more this year with a 72-game NBA schedule.
Not to mention, this team is not as good as it was from three-point range last season as it is this year and it seems to be causing some struggles offensively with the Mavericks. Last season, anchored by Seth Curry on the perimeter, the Mavericks ranked 10th in the league in three-point shooting, averaging 36.7% from deep as a team.
With some struggles offensively and a big gap in talent between Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis and the rest of the team, the Dallas Mavericks are a team that could be looking to acquire another high-level talent to pair with their two, young NBA All-Stars. Here is a trade that would send DeMar DeRozan to the Mavs.
