3 intriguing trade targets the Boston Celtics should consider

Over the years, the Boston Celtics have been a team that is always a top of the Eastern Conference and a legit title contender, but have not seemed to figure out what the problem is in terms of reaching the NBA Finals. They have not had a chance to fight for a title since 2010 and numerous superstar players being brought in has not solved the puzzle.

Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, Isaiah Thomas and Al Horford are all big name players that have been a part of the Celtics organization over the years and all share the same fate with Boston — no championship.

The Celtics organization as a whole has a rich history of winning, having over a 59% win percentage in their 75 seasons as an NBA franchise, as well as 17 NBA Championships, tied with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most all-time. If there is one thing that is a given, it is that GM Danny Ainge and the entire Celtics’ front office is going to do everything they can to make sure that this year is the year they can finally break through and make The Finals.

The emergence of young talents like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown has been very promising for Boston and gives them a sense of hope moving forward that a championship season is in the near future. Tatum made his first All-Star appearance in his third season in the NBA last year, averaging 23.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and shooting 45% from the floor, 40.3% from three-point range.

Jaylen Brown did not make the All-Star game last year, but was on the verge of it. He emerged as a fantastic two-way player last year and looks to make his first All-Star appearance of his career this season, which will not feature an actual All-Star game due to safety and health protocols.

The Boston Celtics have a fantastic core of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart, but outside of these guys, there is a major lack of talent on this roster. Over the years, they have consistently had one of the worst benches in terms of offensive production in the league and this year is no different.

With Kemba out to begin the season, Jeff Teague has stepped in and played a major role so far, but if this team is going to be a championship contender this season and for many seasons to come, they have to make a big move to bolster their bench and overall roster strength. Tatum and Brown cannot carry this roster on their own, which is why they are primed to make a big move and trade at some point during this season.
