Why This Trade Makes Sense For The 76ers
On the other side of the trade, the 76ers are not looking likely to keep Tobias Harris for too much longer. Giving him big money may have been a major mistake. It won’t be easy to trade him, but this deal for Andrew Wiggins could make a lot of sense.
Wiggins would be the kind of player that can create his own shot to take pressure off of Ben Simmons. He would be able to handle the ball as well. But, Wiggins could also be a supporting role player alongside Joel Embiid and Simmons.
Throughout his career to this point, Wiggins has not been a ball-hog type of player. Part of that has been an issue for him, as he does not have the killer instinct to be a star, despite all of his physical ability.
Simply being able to move on from Harris, who does not fit well with Embiid and Simmons, would be a good move. Elton Brand would also be able to get a first-round pick out of this trade, along with a solid role player in Eric Paschall.
For the 76ers, this trade would be an obvious one to make. It wouldn’t move the needle a ton, but it would add some assets that could end up being valuable. Joel Embiid reuniting with Wiggins would be a cool story as well.
