3 intriguing trade targets the Dallas Mavericks could pursue

Luka Doncic is an NBA superstar after just two seasons in the league and this season, he is a legit MVP frontrunner for the Dallas Mavericks. Doncic averaged 28.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 8.8 assists, and shot 46.3% from the floor, 31.6% from three-point range, solidifying himself as one of the favorites to win the 2020-21 NBA MVP. It should come as no surprise to those that know Luka Doncic’s backstory to see him this successful in the NBA at such a young age.

The young Slovenian started playing professional basketball when he was 16-years old and now, he is the face of the Dallas Mavericks and one of the faces of the NBA at 21-years old. With Kristaps Porzingis next to him on the court, the Mavericks not only have two young stars of the game but two guys Dallas can build around for the foreseeable future.

However, Kristaps Porzingis will miss the start of the 2020-21 NBA season as he continues to rehab from a meniscus injury suffered in the 2020 NBA Playoffs. With Luka being the only All-Star player on the Mavs roster to start the season, they could be a team that is in the market to make a move and bring in another complementary player to their All-Stars.

Fully healthy, this team is more than capable of being one of the better teams in the Western Conference and if they were able to acquire another high-level talent, the Dallas Mavericks could wind up being legit threats to dethrone the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference.

With Tim Hardaway Jr.’s big contract and after acquiring Josh Richardson in the offseason, the Dallas Mavericks are tight on cap space and would have to work some contracts around in order to make a big trade at some point this season.

However, if the Dallas Mavericks decide to hit the trade market and look to bring in another talented player, here are 3 intriguing trade targets they should pursue.
