Why the Trade Benefits the Washington Wizards
Sometimes a team just has to cut ties with their stars. John Wall requested a trade and is now in Houston and Bradley Beal could be next. The Washington Wizards gave this duo plenty of time to win but it has failed in recent years.
The Wizards have a new centerpiece player in Russell Westbrook. He is a guard who demands the ball and dominates on the offensive end. Beal is a similar player, which could cause some friction on the court.
It would benefit the Wizards to build around Westbrook in the form of cohesive role players. This is where Hardaway Jr. and Richardson come in to play. Also, if Washington is able to get first-round NBA Draft capital, the deal is well worth it.
With their current roster, the Wizards have a chance to compete for a playoff spot. It is likely that they still would be able to if they traded Beal for some other players.
