This Clippers-Timberwolves trade forms a Karl-Anthony Towns, Paul George duo

Why the Trade Benefits the Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers made the trade for Paul George last NBA offseason. They were forced to give up a ton of NBA Draft capital back to the Oklahoma City Thunder. It is hard to believe that they will give up after just one year, especially after signing an extension, but anything is possible in today’s NBA.

Kawhi Leonard would go back to being the clear-cut No. 1 option on the team. Even with George, it is obvious that Leonard is the best player on the floor but the ball is taken out of his hands at times. Russell would provide the Clippers with another star player but one that knows how to operate as the second in command.

Los Angeles would have a new-look roster for new head coach Ty Lue. This would be a complete reshaping of the franchise from the top. Los Angeles would also get back some of the draft capital that they were forced to give up in the initial deal for George.

Los Angeles is a win-now team and will do what it takes to win. If that means sending George away in a deal then that is what they will have to do.
