Zach LaVine, Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls have been rebuilding since their 1998 NBA Championship in which Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Steve Kerr, and Phil Jackson all left Chicago after winning. Since their last championship, the Bulls have gone through 10 different head coaches and have not had recent playoff success. In fact, the Bulls are a team who have only made the playoffs once in the last five seasons— losing in the first round in 2017.

Now, Chicago brings in Billy Donovan to be the next head coach of the Bulls and with some solid young players, they should be trending in the right direction, but it could be without their star wing in Zach LaVine. This will be LaVine’s fourth season in Chicago and with two years remaining on his contract, including this season, he could be a target for many teams this season.

Last season, Zach LaVine averaged 25.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and shot 45.0% from the floor, 38.0% from three-point range. He has continued to prove year-by-year that he is more than a flashy dunker and can be one of the best scoring options on the team. However, there may not be much success in Chicago over the next few seasons.

The Bulls are an extremely young team and while they take time to develop their youth and core for the future, Zach LaVine is slowly wasting the prime of his career with a losing team. It would be beneficial for both sides to agree on a trade because not only could the Bulls acquire draft assets to speed-up their youth movement and rebuild, but they could send Zach LaVine to a team that he can contend with.

Some teams such as: Dallas, Denver, Phoenix and Philadelphia would all benefit greatly by acquiring Zach LaVine and could be the difference maker in them being legit title contenders this upcoming season.
