3 intriguing trade targets the Bucks should still pursue

With questions about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future in Milwaukee circulating throughout the season last year, it was crucial that the Bucks made a deep postseason run last year and proved to their two-time league MVP that they were doing everything they could to build this organization into a championship contender.

While they failed to reach the Eastern Conference Finals, losing 4-1 to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the Bucks did everything they could to turn the roster around this offseason to convince Giannis to stay.

It ultimately worked as Antetokounmpo and the Bucks reached an agreement on a five-year, $228 million super-max contract extension that will guarantee Giannis in a Bucks uniform through the 2024-25 season, with a player option of $51 million for the 2025-26 season that will be hard to turn down on Giannis’ end. They made their superstar the highest paid player in NBA history and are all-in on winning numerous championships with him.

This offseason, the Bucks were extremely busy as they traded away Eric Bledsoe and George Hill to get former All-Star guard Jrue Holiday. Not only is he one of the better two-way players in the league, but acquiring Holiday makes up for the mistake the Bucks made a couple years ago when they let Malcolm Brogdon sign with the Indiana Pacers. Holiday is an established scorer from anywhere on the court and is still in the prime of his career.

In addition to bringing in Holiday, the Bucks also signed D.J. Augustin, Bobby Portis, Torrey Craig, Bryn Forbes, and Pat Connaughton. This team will have a new identity this season and getting offensive threats to put around Giannis was the goal for the Bucks.

At every position now, the Bucks have depth and playmakers to alleviate a lot of the stress off of their back-to-back league MVP. While Holiday and all of these offseason additions will play a big role this season for Milwaukee, Khris Middleton needs to continue to improve and not let up. He has been an All-Star for back-to-back seasons now, but this season is where he needs to prove that he is one of the top players in the league.

The Bucks will once again be legit title threats this season and for many years to come given that Antetokounmpo is there to stay for the foreseeable future, but who can they trade for this season in attempts to win their first championship since 1971?

Here are three trade targets the Bucks should still be interested in during the 2020-21 NBA season.
