One trade for James Harden the 76ers should go ‘all-in’ to make

The start of the 2020-21 NBA season is rapidly approaching and the Philadelphia 76ers still could make a major move. James Harden is still very much a member of the Houston Rockets but will that be the case for much longer?

It has been tough for the 76ers to break through the Eastern Conference with Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid leading the charge. Philadelphia came closest during the 2019 NBA playoffs when they lost to the Toronto Raptors on the final shot of Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.

The latest consensus surrounding the 76ers is that giving Embiid and Simmons more time to thrive with improved perimeter shooting in the supporting cast could be the right move.

There’s another line of thinking to take into consideration. Winning championships comes down to having elite players and while Simmons is a very talented player, there’s a strong chance he never becomes one of the NBA’s best talents.

Let’s take a look at a recently proposed hypothetical trade package that sends James Harden from the Houston Rockets to the Philadelphia 76ers.
