Why the Trade Benefits the Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics have remained near the top of the Eastern Conference in recent years. They have a dynamic duo in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to build around. It has become clear that they need help down low and that showed during the postseason.

The Celtics were eliminated by the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals during the restart. They were dominated down low by Bam Adebayo. Players like Theis and Robert Williams showed potential but we’re unable to be the premier bigs on the team.

If there is one player who could be a premier big, it is Gobert. He is one of the best defenders in the NBA and has had his offensive game step up as a premier rim roller and general play finisher. 

This deal would propel the Celtics even closer to the top of the conference. They would have a complete lineup that would be difficult to contend with on both ends.
