The preseason games have begun in the NBA. This does not mean that the league is finished with fireworks just yet. Two of the top teams, the Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat, could get together for a deal that would improve each side, but not exactly cause a big splash.
The Miami Heat made a surprise run to the NBA Finals during the restart. They had some moving parts this offseason with both Goran Dragic and Jae Crowder testing free agency. Crowder eventually ended up in Phoenix but Dragic will be back with the Heat. They could look for a move to add some point guard depth coming off the bench.
The Los Angeles Clippers currently have the best sixth man in the league in Lou Williams. If they got the right return, Williams could be on his way to Miami. The Clippers will enter the season with sky-high expectations once again after their disappointing finish down in Orlando.
Paul George recently signed a contract extension to remain long-term with the Clippers. This is a team that has its plan in place and now it is all about executing. Moving on from Williams could be a helpful answer to better reconfigure the supporting cast.
Williams would go from one contender to the other in a deal such as this one. Here is what a potential deal between the Heat and Clippers might look like.
