Why the Trade Benefits the Cleveland Cavaliers
Collin Sexton was a player that received great praise from James during his college days. This might have persuaded Cleveland to use their first-round pick on him but it has worked out over the first two years. With other options in the backcourt, Cleveland could decide to move the Alabama product if they get the right deal.
It is always difficult to turn down multiple first-round picks in a trade, especially for a rebuilding franchise. The Knicks have draft capital available from deals involving Kristaps Porzingis and Marcus Morris. They would be able to send two picks to Cleveland along with two former first rounders.
Both Frank Ntilikina and Kevin Knox have not been able to get it going in New York but a change of scenery could do them some good. It is not easy to play for the Knicks and once you lose confidence, it is almost impossible to get it back.
The return just might be too much for Cleveland to turn down in this one. They still have veterans such as Kevin Love and Andre Drummond in the front court to help the younger guards on the perimeter.
