Why the Trade Benefits the Philadelphia 76ers

It’s not easy to say that trading away a player like Joel Embiid would benefit the Philadelphia 76ers. The whole point of building a team is to end up adding talents that are elite for their position like Embiid.

If the 76ers decided that building around Ben Simmons and Embiid is not the best course of action but preferred Simmons, then it would be beneficial to find an intriguing trade package for Embiid. The Phoenix Suns would be a potential answer for this.

Simmons thrives playing the point guard position and adding a sharpshooter like Cam Johnson and stretch-big in Jalen Smith would make for a fascinating supporting cast. There would be no shortage of talent in the group with Tobias Harris and Mattisse Thybulle also in the mix.

Being able to add a recent No. 1 pick big man in Deandre Ayton to man in the middle would be a solid option to replace Embiid. He can fill more of a complementary role around Simmons with his mid-range jumper, soft touch, and play finishing all on a rookie contract.
