Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Kings
For the Kings, they need to make sure that they aren’t trading Buddy Hield just to part ways with him. No matter how bad the relationship may be, they need to get value back in return.
In this trade, the Kings would be receiving a more than serviceable replacement for Hield in Tim Hardaway Jr. He may not be a star, but he would be an immediate starter. Hardaway would also help replace the shooting lost by moving Hield.
Last season with the Mavericks, Hardaway ended up averaging 15.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. He shot 43.4 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 39.8 percent of his three-point attempts.
Add in a first-round pick and this deal makes even more sense. The Kings could either use that pick in a trade or they could add another young piece to their roster.
Hield could end up sticking around, but the Kings should make this trade if it is available. They would be getting the best of both worlds with this deal and more draft assets are a way that Sacramento could help build back towards the playoffs.
