Why the Trade Benefits the Orlando Magic
For the Orlando Magic, it’s simple. Zach LaVine has taken his game to the next level as a score from all over the floor. We knew that he was a freak athlete and could dunk over anyone, but he has not shown the ability to be a consistent score. That has changed during his time with the Chicago Bulls.
Orlando has an interesting lineup. Nikola Vucevic is one of the most underrated bigs in the game. His skill-set is one that ranges across all three levels on the floor. Adding a high volume perimeter scorer with a three-point pull-up like LaVine would be intriguing.
Markelle Fultz is a part of the rotation and is beginning to look like a capable player in the NBA. Aaron Gordon would stay in Orlando in this deal which would help LaVine on the perimeter.
If the Magic truly believes they can compete then it is time to go get a big-name player to take them to that next level. This would be a trade in hopes of climbing up the standings and qualifying for the NBA postseason higher than a seventh or eighth seed.
