4 bold predictions for Philadelphia 76ers entering 2020-21 NBA season

After seven seasons of Brett Brown being the head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, going 221-344 over that span with two Eastern Conference Semifinal appearances, the 76ers finally decided to move on from Brown, firing him after being swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

After being fired by the Clippers, the 76ers quickly hired Doc Rivers and also brought in former Rockets GM, Daryl Morey, to be the new President of Basketball Operations for the organization. The 76ers have gone all-in on trying to win their first championship since 1983 and with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, they really do believe their time is now.

This offseason, the 76ers stayed aggressive and traded for Danny Green and Seth Curry, two guys on the wing who will provide three-point shooting, something they struggled to get from previous year’s wing players. They also addressed depth behind Embiid, adding former All-Star Dwight Howard to the roster.

The Philadelphia 76ers have turned their roster into a true championship-contending roster in the Eastern Conference and they may not be done quite yet. Daryl Morey has always been known for being an aggressive front office executive and always looks to “go big or go home,” which is why the Philadelphia 76ers have been involved in trade rumors over the months for former league MVP, James Harden.

Both Morey and Harden have a strong relationship with one another due to their days in Houston together, but with James Harden now wanting out of Houston, there is a strong possibility that Philly could be the potential landing spot for the 8x All-Star. Time will tell if the 76ers will pull the trigger on what could end up being one of the biggest trades in NBA history.

With the Eastern Conference as a whole vastly improving and a slew of young talent starting to play better, the championship window for the Philadelphia 76ers may be getting smaller and smaller, making this year an “all-or-nothing” year for the Sixers. Here are 4 bold predictions for the Philadelphia 76ers entering the 2020-21 NBA season.
