Trae Young Will Average A Double-Double For The Season

In just his second season in the league, Trae Young was not just an All-Star, but was one of the best offensive players in the entire NBA. He finished fourth in scoring last season and made a total of 205 three-pointers, ranking him 6th in the NBA in made three-point field goals. In addition to being one of the league’s best shooters and scorers, Trae Young was also one of the best passers in the league.

Young finished the season averaging 9.3 assists per game and trailed just LeBron James for the league lead in assists per game. Not only is Trae Young one of the best scorers in the NBA at just 22-years old, but he is also one of the best ball-handlers and distributors. With all the offensive weapons the Hawks have this season, it is definitely not out of question for Young to average 20+ points and 10+ assists per game over the course of the 72-game season.

The shorter season definitely helps his cause for reaching this feat, but even in a full season, Young would probably reach this milestone anyways! Only a handful of players in NBA history have ever averaged 20+ points per game and 10+ assists per game and Trae Young is set to be the next player to add his name to this list. He would join the likes of Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, James Harden, LeBron James and many more greats if he was able to achieve this type of statistical season.

With all of the attention Young will be receiving this season, as opposed to previous years, it is definitely not crazy to believe he will average more assists this year because of the fact he will be kicking the ball out to knock-down shooters in Gallinari and Bogdanovic this season. The Hawks have plenty of offensive firepower this season and because of how good of a passer Trae Young is, he will be able to find them no matter where they are on the court.

Not to mention, he has three very solid big guys in Clint Capela, John Collins, and now rookie Onyeka Okongwu. These three guys are not only threats to receive the ball in transition from Young, but also in pick-and-roll situations, where Trae Young is excellent in throwing lob passes up to his big guys.

Trae Young is going to have an unbelievable 2020-21 NBA season and will once again solidify himself as not just one of the league’s best scorers, but one of the best passers in the game that is here to stay for the next couple of decades.
