Steve Nash says Caris LeVert could play Manu Ginobili role

The Brooklyn Nets will have an abundance of talent on the perimeter this NBA season with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in the lineup. Where does this leave Caris LeVert?

During a recent media availability with reporters, Nash told reporters he’s ‘not sure’ if LeVert will start— expressing there’s a case to be made for him to play a Manu Ginobili type of role.

“Caris is a starter. Will he start for us? I’m not sure. He’s so good with the ball in his hands there’s a case to be made that he plays that (Manu) Ginobili role.”

A key factor for the Nets when deciding the perimeter starters will be the spot where Durant slots. If he were to play primarily as a small-ball power forward, Brooklyn would have a much

Maximizing the floor spacing around Durant and Irving should be priority No. 1 for the Nets— making Joe Harris most logical to start on the wing. There wouldn’t be any room left in the lineup on the perimeter if Durant doesn’t slot in at the four spot.

Opposing teams could get shredded apart if Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert end up coming off the bench for the Nets. Both players have proven to have the ability to start and put up 20 points per game when needed to shoulder a heavier offensive load.

The whole situation would change if the Nets ended up facing a legitimate opportunity to be able to acquire James Harden from the Houston Rockets. LeVert would undoubtedly be included in any potential deal to acquire the former NBA MVP since Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving would be off the table.

It will be fascinating to see what the Brooklyn Nets ultimately decide to do when it comes to their starting lineup. There is an abundance of talent and potential intriguing lineup combinations for Steve Nash to play around with and Caris LeVert will be a pivotal component of that.
