1. Back-Court Depth
If there was one area for the Lakers that was not great last season, it was the point guard position. Now, with Rajon Rondo in Atlanta, the Lakers will have to look even harder for depth. That is why they made the trade with Oklahoma City for Dennis Schroder.
Victor Oladipo is not a point guard, but he is capable of handling the ball and scoring on the perimeter. He can create his own shot or be a spot-up shooter from three-point range.
Right now, the Lakers have Wesley Matthews and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope on the perimeter at shooting guard. Oladipo would just give them more depth. A bench with Matthews and Kuzma on it would be great come playoff time.
When looking at reasons to trade for Oladipo, the list is long and the reasons not to are nonexistent. It is obvious that the Lakers like to make the big move and do not be shocked if they do it again by acquiring Oladipo from the Pacers.
