Why the Trade Benefits the Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers completely lacked depth at the point guard position last season. During their playoff series against the Boston Celtics, they were forced to start Shake Milton and we all saw how that worked out. If they decided to keep Ben Simmons as the one, Derrick Rose would be a depth move.
If the 76ers wanted to start Rose, they could have Simmons play off the ball. This would take needed pressure off Simmons and allow him to act as a slasher on the perimeter.
Opposing defenses do not respect his shot at the top of the offense which allows defenders to slack off near the paint. Rose has plenty of experience playing with an impact big during his days with the Chicago Bulls and in Detroit with Blake Griffin.
Rose has shown that he is still capable of scoring at a high-level in the league. In Philadelphia, he would not be asked to be the main offensive weapon which would open up his game even more. This would be a good move for the Sixers if they are looking to add some depth.
