Why the Trade Benefits the Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors are a win-now team but did not have enough firepower to get past the Boston Celtics down in Orlando. Heading into the upcoming season, they are expected to be near the top of the Eastern Conference once again. If they were to acquire DeMar DeRozan, this would make them stronger.

The Raptors lost Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol in NBA free agency. They were able to re-sign Fred VanVleet but could use another impact playmaker on the offense of end. DeRozan is still one of the top mid-range threats in the game.

DeRozan is a big-game player and has the ability to take over when needed. This deal benefits the Raptors because it will give them another elite player during the most important time of the year.

A reunion between DeRozan and Toronto would be extremely entertaining to watch. It would be a great storyline if the Raptors were able to take home another championship during the NBA postseason.
