Why the Trade Benefits the Denver Nuggets
When acquiring the best player in the trade, it is always a beneficial move for a certain team. That is exactly what the Denver Nuggets would be doing here with Zach LaVine. It would be a clear win-now move by adding a borderline All-Star.
The Nuggets clearly did not have enough firepower to get past the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. Unfortunately for the rest of the conference, the Lakers have made moves to improve their roster, even more, this NBA offseason. That means other teams will have to keep up.
LaVine is the type of player that can help the Nuggets get to that next level. With two high-level perimeter scorers in the backcourt, Denver would be able to overpower opposing teams in the scoring department. Playing with Jokic’s passing ability would go even further.
It also benefits the Nuggets that they do not have to give up Michael Porter Jr. in this trade. The first round picks cannot be looked at as too much because they will be lower in the round if things go the way they Nuggets plan.
