This Clippers-Rockets trade forms a James Harden, Kawhi Leonard duo

The Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers both are teams that came up short in the NBA playoffs. The Rockets already traded Russell Westbrook in exchange for John Wall. Next, a trade for James Harden could be next. Could this be an opportunity to shake up the Paul George and Kawhi Leonard duo?

The Rockets have already been busy this NBA offseason beyond just trading Westbrook. Houston began things by trading away Robert Covington ahead of the 2020 NBA Draft. In addition, Houston signed Christian Wood and DeMarcus Cousins in free agency.

James Harden could be next to be traded. He has been linked to teams like the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers as his preferred destination but has expressed willingness to be dealt to a contender, in general. He could end up on a team like the Clippers out west with another superstar.

The Clippers did not accomplish their goal in year one with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. This could lead them to make some changes and if they do, Harden is available. They re-signed Marcus Morris but lost Montrezl Harrell in free agency. The new-look Clippers could look to create a different dynamic duo for the upcoming season.

If both the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers were to make a blockbuster deal centered around James Harden, it could look something like this.
