Why the Trade Benefits the Philadelphia 76ers
It is time for the Sixers to admit that the process has not worked. They have failed to reach the Eastern Conference Finals with Simmons and Embiid on the roster. they were recently swept out of the first round by the Boston Celtics as the sixth-seed in the conference. If a superstar is available, they need to take a look.
It would make sense to keep Simmons around over Embiid if at all possible, but this is a guard driven league so he will be the centerpiece. If the Sixers were able to acquire Harden, this would do a lot for them come postseason time. It would give them a player who can do it all offensively. Harden is the best isolation scorer in the game but can also pass to set up his teammates. Philadelphia made deals for Danny Greenand Seth Curry to improve their three-point shooting.
Harden would have the ball in his hands during crunch time. Now, that role is up for grabs because Simmons cannot score from the perimeter and Embiid has been known to disappear. This would not be a concern in the upcoming season.
