The Orlando Magic are one of the biggest question marks heading into the NBA season. On paper, they look like a team that could sneak into the postseason once again as a seven or eight seed. If they were to make a trade, they might be able to sneak their way up even higher. The Miami Heat could be a logical option in a deal centered around Markelle Fultz.
This is not one of those deals. The Magic acquired Fultz from the Philadelphia 76ers in hopes that he could blossom into that No. 1 overall draft pick that he was expected to become. Orlando has a strong core with Evan Fournier and Nikola Vucevic but they could use another star. This is a deal that would land them some more trade pieces for that potential deal.
The Miami Heat are coming off an NBA Finals appearance during the restart. They made a surprise run through the Eastern Conference but were taken down by the Los Angeles Lakers in the final round.
Moving forward, the Heat are in a position to land another superstar in hopes of winning an NBA championship. In this trade, they would land a player with untapped potential that they hope could develop.
