Washington Wizards
After trading for Russell Westbrook this offseason, the Washington Wizards finally have two All-Star level players to work with, along with their young core of players. However, Washington may not be done acquiring talent as they have the assets to be able to bring in another All-Star talent.
Outside of Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal, this Washington Wizards team is in no position to contend in the Eastern Conference and while they could make the playoffs as a lower-seed, they would most likely find themselves losing in the first-round of the playoffs.
The Wizards will need to add another big name player if they are to make some noise in the Eastern Conference and that may be exactly what they plan on doing. The competition has become quite strong with other rising powers in the conference, so more firepower is needed.
Washington D.C. is a lucrative market for any All-Star talent and could be even more attractive with Westbrook and Beal in the backcourt. Three big names that come to mind for the Wizards to target are Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, and Myles Turner. All three big guys could really help Washington in the frontcourt and give the Wizards a three-headed monster offensively.
The frontcourt of the Washington Wizards is extremely weak, especially since Davis Bertans is a perimeter-oriented threat and rarely plays in the paint. With plenty of young talent and some draft assets over the next few years, the Wizards front office could easily put together an attractive trade package to bring in another big time talent.
The Wizards would not have traded for Russell Westbrook and invested in him for the next three seasons if they did not believe they could build something special, which is why they are in a great position to make a big move. They have made the playoffs just twice in the last five seasons and if they are to make the playoffs and contend in the Eastern Conference, they will have to get Westbrook and Beal another big name to play with.
