The Hypothetical Trade
Lakers Receive: Malcolm Brogdon, Edmond Sumner, 2021 First-Round Pick
Pacers Receive: Dennis Schroder, Kyle Kuzma
Why would the Lakers be interested in making this move after just acquiring Schroder from the Thunder? Well, to start, Brogdon would be an even better fit alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Schroder will be solid, but Brogdon can do a lot more.
Defensively, Brogdon would provide tough perimeter defense. He can spread the floor and is an elite catch-and-shoot option. Schroder needs the ball in his hands more often than not.
The Pacers would also be getting Kuzma in this trade. Kuzma looks to be angling for a new contract soon and the Lakers are not going to pay the price he wants. Moving him to get a third star to play alongside their two superstars would make a lot of sense.
Granted, Los Angeles may not consider making this move. Schroder may be the guy they really want at point guard. However, Brogdon would be yet another upgrade.
Let’s take a closer look at this trade and why it makes sense for both teams involved.
