Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Clippers
On the other side of the deal, the Clippers may receive some heat for making this deal. But, the fact of the matter is that Paul George was not well loved by his teammates last year. George rubbed a lot of them the wrong way.
His biggest flaw over the years has always been the drama that he brings to the court. George has always made excuses when he has played poorly. That was the case once again last year after the Clippers were eliminated from the playoffs.
This trade would bring in pieces that would fit nicely around Kawhi Leonard. Buddy Hield shot 39.4 percent from the three-point line last season and would help fill the scoring void left by George. Bagley, on the other hand, is a very talented big man and averaged 14.2 points and 7.5 rebounds last year in his second NBA season in 13 games played.
Bagley might very well be the biggest part of this trade for the Clippers. They lost Montrezl Harrell as previously mentioned and have a bit of a void in the front-court. By making this trade, they would shore up a potential weakness.
Los Angeles may not want to move George. They could very well hold onto him and see how the entire 2020-21 season goes. But, if the Clippers do consider trading him, this move with the Kings could make sense.
