Why the Trade Benefits the Philadelphia 76ers
“The Process” is over for the Philadelphia 76ers. The combination of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid has failed to advance past the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals during each of their trips to the NBA playoffs. Getting rid of one of their two names would allow the other to take over the team and be the cornerstone player.
In this instance, it would be Embiid the 76ers would choose as he’s already arguably the top player at his position in the NBA. Simmons has great versatility with his defensive versatility and passing ability, but overall,
Khris Middleton is an All-Star who has emerged as a great perimeter threat in Milwaukee. At times, he struggles to create his own shot at times but he has an offensive ability that could help the Philadelphia 76ers get to where they want to be. In this trade, they would also add NBA Draft capital that could be used later.
Nothing is off-limits in the NBA. Just because the 76ers said that they will not make a deal does not mean that they won’t. They are dealing with a new front office that could be looking to make an impact immediately.
