Why the Trade Benefits the Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks have been the best regular-season team in the NBA over the last two years. Despite their success, they have not been able to reach the Eastern Conference Finals in each of the last two seasons. This has been a huge disappointment for the team, especially when Giannis Antetokounmpo has won back-to-back MVP awards.
The Bucks made a trade for a Holiday to improve their point guard position. If they were to add an all-star caliber player like Ben Simmons, they could really solidify the backcourt. Yes, Simmons has played point guard for the Philadelphia 76ers but he would benefit largely from playing more off the ball. This is what he would be able to do in Milwaukee.
Simmons would be able to use his driving ability to get to the rim and his passing ability once he penetrates. With a stretch-five like Brook Lopez, there would be no shortage of space for that to take place. The offense would look a whole lot deeper with him in the lineup.
Milwaukee needs to take that next step toward winning a championship. Also, this deal would build a team around Giannis Antetokounmpo and go along way in persuading him to stick around long term.
