Two NBA teams heading in very different directions could get together for a trade featuring a couple of intriguing standouts. The Boston Celtics are a win-now team while the New Orleans Pelicans are looking to rebuild.
Boston made a run to the Eastern Conference Finals during the postseason. They were knocked out by the Miami Heat prior to the finals. They have a big-time duo in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Now, it is all about putting the right players around them in hopes of bringing in another championship for the franchise.
As for the Pelicans, they are going in a different direction rebuilding around their young talent. They signed Brandon Ingram to a max contract and drafted Zion Williamson with the first overall pick in last year’s draft. They have already traded away Jrue Holiday and could look to make another deal to build draft capital.
While the upcoming NBA season is nearing, the Celtics and Pelicans both could benefit from fine-tuning a few spots on their roster. It’s never too late to look into making upgrades.
These teams both have trade pieces that would help the other side if they could make a deal. This is what a potential swap could look like if the Celtics and Pelicans got together to make a deal.
