Why The Trade Benefits The Knicks

The Knicks have not had a young player to be excited about in years. Kristaps Porzingis did not stick around to give fans that real sense of excitement.

Karl-Anthony Towns would be a player that New York can build their franchise around. Most importantly, they would be able to keep Toppin and Robinson.

In this deal, the Knicks would have to give up one pick of their own. The first-rounders from Dallas and Los Angeles will be later in the round since they are both postseason teams.

Right now, Toppin is the player to be excited about. Barrett has some work to do and as of now, Robinson is one-dimensional. There are no untouchable pieces on this team, especially in a deal for Towns.

Towns is a true difference maker that would bring excitement back to the Garden. This is not to say that they would make the postseason every year without other moves, but they would finally have a cornerstone player to build around.
