The New York Knicks have been one of the league’s worst franchises for years now. They have added some pieces in the draft that they hope will turn into franchise players. If they were able to acquire a piece like Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves, everything would change.
The relationship between Towns and the Timberwolves is unknown. At one time, Towns was apparently unhappy, but Minnesota made a few moves to attempt to compete in the future. The Wolves added D’Angelo Russell and landed the first overall pick, which they used on Anthony Edwards.
As for the Knicks, they signed a bunch of veteran players to short-term contracts last offseason. Many have been declined their player options.
The Knicks drafted Obi Toppin with the No. 8 overall pick in the NBA Draft. He will join R.J. Barrett and Mitchell Robinson as the apparent future. In a trade for a player like Towns, there is no one off limits.
Towns, who grew up in New Jersey, would have the chance to play back home if he were traded to the Knicks. That would have to be intriguing for the superstar big man.
Let’s take a look at what a potential Karl-Anthony Towns trade between the Knicks and Timberwolves would look like.
