Clint Capela – Atlanta Hawks

If the Washington Wizards want to bring in a rebounding machine who can provide plenty of offensive rebounds, Clint Capela is the guy they need to target. The only problem with targeting Clint Capela compared to others mentioned before is that he comes at a steep price and is owed over $50M over the course of the next three NBA seasons.

Capela has not played since January 29th due to a heel injury but is ready to go for the start of the 2020-21 NBA season and has been one of the best rebounding bigs over the course of the last few seasons. He has averaged double-digit rebounds for three consecutive seasons and has been a beast on the offensive glass, averaging over four offensive rebounds per game over the last two years.

He can catch lobs thrown his way and is extremely physical going up for rebounds, which would give the Wizards a true warrior in the paint. As the Wizards’ roster stands right now, they do not have a true center who stays primarily in the paint, but trading for Clint Capela gives them that type of player.

Russell Westbrook, Bradley Beal and Davis Bertans are the three primary scorers on the Wizards’ roster and if they want any chance to make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference, they are going to need to go out and find a reliable rebounding threat to give them second, third, and fourth chances to score on every possession.

Clint Capela is the guy that fits the Wizards system perfectly and with Beal and Westbrook calling the shots, they would not need him to focus on scoring as much as cleaning up the glass. Trading for Capela would cost the Wizards some assets, as the Hawks just acquired him at last season’s trade deadline and Washington would have to be willing to invest in the big man for the next few years.
