Jarrett Culver — Minnesota Timberwolves
It won’t be easy for the Los Angeles Lakers to add intriguing young prospects to their team without hitting it out of the park on NBA Draft steals or undrafted free agents. Taking a chance on a player like Jarrett Culver is an option that could be intriguing.
Many were impressed with the intriguing signs Culver displayed at Texas Tech but he underwhelmed during his rookie campaign. After being selected No. 6 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft, he posted averages of 23.9 minutes, 9.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.
With D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards, Malik Beasley, and Ricky Rubio in the backcourt rotation, Culver is in a tough position to succeed. It’s not just a short-term situation given the nature of most of those players’ contract status and standing with the team.
It all depends on how the Lakers view Culver’s potential going forward. If there is legitimate confidence that he can improve as a jump shooter, Los Angeles would be justified in at least inquiring given the newfound logjam in Minnesota’s backcourt.
