Kendrick Nunn — Miami Heat
The Miami Heat have become notorious for finding key contributors by taking risks on players and developing them. Perhaps the most apparent recent example is Kendrick Nunn— going from a G League player to contending for the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award.
After making just three appearances in the NBA during the 2018-19 season, Nunn managed to find himself playing a key role with the Heat in 2019-20. In fact, he averaged 29.3 minutes in 67 regular season appearances along with 15.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists.
Perhaps most intriguing of all about Nunn is that he will be a restricted free agent next offseason and is set to earn just under $1.7 million during the upcoming season. A team like the Lakers would benefit from having a team-friendly contract of that kind after paying Anthony Davis a max deal to round out the roster.
An aggressive offensive talent like Nunn could help to lead the Lakers’ bench unit with Dennis Schroder running point with the starters. There was issue with a lack of results on offense when LeBron James was on the bench and that’s where Nunn would help.
