Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Rockets
Houston should only be looking for trades that jumpstart a rebuild. At this point in time, if the Rockets deal James Harden, they cannot try to rebuild with a current star to continue trying to win now. Rebuilding with young talent would be the right way to go.
Well, with this trade, they would be getting a ton of it. RJ Barrett is the name that will catch a lot of eyes and rightfully so. In his rookie season with the Knicks, Barrett averaged 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while showing big-time potential.
Kevin Knox is a name that is intriguing, although he has not developed well since joining the Knicks. Frank Ntilikina is a young guard that has a lot of potential, especially on the defensive side of the court.
Throw in the three first-round picks and this deal looks even better. Julius Randle isn’t a big part of this trade outside of helping match up some salaries. He would not stick with the Rockets very long, but could be flipped for another draft pick potentially.
This package from the Knicks would have to make the Rockets consider pulling the trigger. New York can make a very intriguing case and this package might just get the job done.
