Philadelphia 76ers
The reason why the Philadelphia 76ers would be an interesting team to enter the Bradley Beal sweepstakes is because they have 3 max-contracts over $30M per year on their roster. Ben Simmons ($30.6M), Tobias Harris ($34.4M), and Joel Embidd ($30M) are all viable contracts that could be traded in efforts to acquire Bradley Beal ($28.8M) without any financial restraints.
The 76ers made their intentions clear this offseason that they are all-in on investing to maximize their championship window they have in the Eastern Conference and adding Bradley Beal to the mix is the “icing on the cake” for Doc Rivers and Daryl Morey. Ben Simmons can’t make anything outside of the paint, Tobias Harris struggled last season with the 76ers and Joel Embiid cannot handle the scoring load on his own, so it would make perfect sense for the 76ers to do everything they can to acquire Bradley Beal.
If the 76ers could make the long-term money work and send Tobias Harris in a trade package to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Bradley Beal, Philadelphia’s offense would be very hard to stop. Ben Simmons is a mismatch for opponents because he is the primary ball-handler at 7-feet tall and can post up smaller defenders with ease. Joe Embiid is one of the best big men in the entire league and adding one of the most lethal offensive weapons in the NBA to this team makes their offense almost unstoppable.
The 76ers acquired Josh Richardson, Seth Curry and Danny Green this offseason as three shooters and potential players who can be a part of a trade package to bring Beal to Philadelphia. It just makes perfect sense for Daryl Morey to stay aggressive in his first year with the 76ers organization and do everything he can to set the 76ers up for success. Acquiring Bradley Beal not only does this for the entire organization, but makes them a true championship contender in the Eastern Conference.
