Myles Turner, Indiana Pacers
Myles Turner has been one of the more intriguing names in NBA trade talks over the years because of how dominant he has been defensively early on in his career. At just 24-years of age, Myles Turner is one of the premier shot blockers in the entire league as he led the league in blocks per game during the 2018-19 season and finished 4th in the league in blocks this past year.
The Indiana Pacers would be hesitant to trade their star center as he is a young player they are looking to build around for years to come, but after losing in the first-round of the playoffs for five consecutive years and some rumors circulating about the Pacers shopping around players this offseason, Turner may want to join a championship contender and get a fresh start.
The Los Angeles Clippers would be a great spot for Turner since they are so strong defensively and need a reliable center to build with for the future. Ivica Zubac had a solid season last year and bringing in Serge Ibaka should help the Clippers frontcourt a lot, but Myles Turner is a whole different player than those two.
Last season with the Pacers, Myles Turner averaged 12.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks while shooting 45.7% from the floor. With Indiana, Turner is not able to reach his full potential because T.J. Warren, Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis and Malcolm Brogdon are all big name players who need to take their shots. Although it is great for them to have five solid options like the ones above, this can cause a lot of problems for a team as a result of some players being “buried” in the rotation and not being the scoring options they can be.
Myles Turner is a player the Clippers can build around for years to come and next to Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, Turner can turn into an offensive juggernaut. Although he may be known as a premier shot-blocker now, Myles Turner can easily be one of the more lethal big men running the court in transition in the league.
