Ranking the top 5 biggest steals in the 2020 NBA Draft

The 2020 NBA Draft has come and gone and it was an exciting night. There were no trades to shake things up with the first 10 picks, but from the middle of the first round until the end of the night, teams were making trades left and right. Most of the trades made did not include players, but there were a couple of trades in which current NBA players were on the move.

One of the most notable trades from the 2020 NBA Draft was a three-team trade between the Nets, the Clippers, and the Pistons in which the Clippers traded Landry Shamet to Brooklyn, the Pistons traded Luke Kennard to Brooklyn, and Detroit received the No. 19 pick in the draft, which they turned into Sadiqq Bey out of Villanova.

Another big trade sent Seth Curry from the Dallas Mavericks to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Josh Richardson and the No. 36 pick in the draft, which the Mavs turned into Tyler Bey from Colorado.

The Philadelphia 76ers were a very busy team on draft night as with new management and new head coach Doc Rivers, the Sixers are trying to make the most of their championship window with stars Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid at the forefront of their roster. Using their draft assets to acquire veteran talent and shooters on the wing will pay off big time this upcoming year as outside shooting was not their speciality a season ago, ranking 19th in the league a season ago in three-pointers made per game.

The Minnesota Timberwolves were also a busy team on draft night as they not only took Anthony Edwards No. 1 overall, but they brought back Ricky Rubio in a trade that sent the No. 17 pick in the draft to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Rubio played with Minnesota for 6 seasons from 2011-2016 and is coming off his best statistical season with the Phoenix Suns. Bringing in Rubio gives the T-Wolves some much needed depth behind D’Angelo Russell at point guard.

Along with all of the trade news, many teams made headlines for reaching on players in the draft, while others turned out really well, winding up with some of the steals of the night.

Out of all 60 picks in the draft, only a select few were good enough to be deemed “the best picks in the draft” and with that being said, let’s take a look at the top five biggest steals in the 2020 NBA Draft.
