Why the Trade Benefits the Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers are a postseason team in the Eastern Conference with or without Victor Oladipo. They were eliminated by the Miami Heat in the first round during the restart, but are expected to compete moving forward. This is where a veteran player like DeMar DeRozan would come in handy come postseason time.
As of now, the Pacers are led by players like Malcolm Brogdon and Myles Turner. Domantas Sabonis was a first-time All-Star prior to the shut down and TJ Warren emerged as a pure score down in Orlando. It’s safe to say, Indiana has its fair share of talent.
This is a Pacers team ready to compete and DeRozan would give them a boost when they need it in the playoffs. He is still one of the best mid-range scorers in the league and a player with great postseason experience.
Currently, the Pacers are in a position where they will not have to re-sign Victor Oladipo next offseason. There is a chance for DeRozan to contribute right away and this is what the team is looking for in return.
