Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Spurs
On the other side of the deal, the Spurs would be happy to pull the trigger on this trade. Being able to snag Kyle Kuzma in a deal with the Lakers would be a big-time win.
Kuzma has a lot of scoring potential and has shown that he can be a top option offensively. Back in the 2018-19 season before Anthony Davis was acquired, Kuzma averaged 18.7 points per game and shot 45.6 percent from the field. His three-point percentage needs to rise, but that can be worked on.
At just 25 years old, the future is still bright for Kuzma. With the Spurs, he could get a contract extension and become a huge part of their future.
Only giving up White and a second-round pick is ideal for the Spurs. They would still be able to trade LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan ahead of the NBA trade deadline should they choose to do so.
San Antonio needs to make some moves to get a little younger. Kuzma would be a big step in that direction.
