Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Lakers
Derrick White is a solid guard who would add quality depth for the Lakers. He may not be a big name, but they aren’t going to get a big name for Kyle Kuzma. At 26 years old, White has one year left on his deal.
He averaged 11.3 points per game last season with the Spurs to go along with 3.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds. White shot 45.8 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 36.6 percent from the three-point line.
Add in a second-round pick that the Lakers could use in a trade or to take a young player.
This trade may not be ideal for the Lakers, depending on what else they have planned. Kuzma may be someone that they want to keep around as they look to repeat as NBA champions.
However, if the Lakers do want to move on from Kuzma, this could be a good fit.
