Phoenix Suns

If you were not rooting for the Phoenix Suns last season in the NBA Bubble, then you are not a true basketball fan! The Phoenix Suns, yes the Phoenix Suns, put on an absolute show in Orlando last season when they went 8-0 to finish their regular season, but fell just short of making the NBA Playoffs. It has now been a decade since the Phoenix Suns have made the playoffs and the last time they were in the playoffs, a guy by the name of Steve Nash was leading the team.

Well, Steve Nash is now coaching the Brooklyn Nets and this team is led by the high-volume scoring guard in Devin Booker. After making his first All-Star appearance of his career last season, averaging 26.6 points, 6.5 assists and shooting 48.9% from the floor, the Suns did all they could to build around Booker for the future and bring in another superstar talent to pair with Booker.

The Phoenix Suns reached an agreement with the Oklahoma City Thunder and acquired 10x All-Star and future Hall-of-Fame point guard, Chris Paul. Pairing Booker and Paul in the backcourt together, along with emerging star DeAndre Ayton down low, the Phoenix Suns have the making of a playoff team in the crowded Western Conference.

Although bringing in Chris Paul helps a lot, the Suns were not done there as they continued to spend their cap room this offseason, signing Jae Crowder, E’Twaun Moore, Damian Jones, and bringing Jevon Carter back. They also drafted big man Jalen Smith with the 10th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, bolstering their frontcourt and making them a dangerous rebounding team.

The Suns now have a great starting lineup of: Paul, Booker, Bridges, Crowder and Ayton, as well as a good amount of depth coming off the bench. They have the ability to play either big or small and have the ability to be a great transition team. Phoenix completely changed their approach and are all-in on turning this franchise into a winning franchise, something they have not been in years. The Suns are going to take a big step this season and because of their great moves to improve this offseason, will snap the streak and make the 2020-2021 NBA Playoffs!
