Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Nuggets
Giving up Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, and multiple picks is a high price to pay. However, acquiring James Harden would be acquiring a once-in-a-generation type of offensive talent.
Harden would form an extremely lethal duo with superstar big man Nikola Jokic. The two would be nearly impossible to stop. Acquiring Harden would immediately make the Nuggets one of the top title contenders.
Denver would have a starting lineup of Monte Morris, Harden, Michael Porter Jr., Paul Millsap, and Jokic. That lineup would be lethal. Not having to give up Porter in the trade package would be a big-time win for the Nuggets.
Losing Murray would hurt, there is no doubt about it. The chemistry he has built with Jokic has been very valuable. For that reason, the Nuggets may not be terribly interested in making this trade.
But, Harden is the kind of player that would be impossible to pass up on. If this trade was an option, Denver would be hard-pressed to say no.
